Greetings,

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm a longtime speaker, trainer, consultant and scribbler. My work revolves around helping organizations improve their service strategies and client relations. In particular, I speak, train, consult and write about managing customer expectations, delivering superior service, and building trusting, supportive relationships. I have a background in psychology and many years of experience as a techie and manager.

My books include Communication Gaps and How to Close Them, How to Establish Service Level Agreements and Managing Expectations: Working with People Who Want More, Better, Faster, Sooner, NOW! For info and excerpts, see http://www.nkarten.com/book2.html.

I've posted several issues of my newsletter, Perceptions & Realities, for you to view or download at http://www.nkarten.com/newslet.html. You're welcome to print as many copies as you'd like.

My website also features 20+ articles for your use on managing customer expectations, gathering customer feedback, improving client relations, enhancing communications skills and more. See http://www.nkarten.com/indepth.html

By the way, the above photo was taken as I was presenting the closing session at AYE 2000. As you can see, while this conference focuses on serious topics, we don't take ourselves too seriously in doing so.

I'll be leading the closing session again this year. Stay tuned!! <grin>

I'd love to hear from you. Please contact me at .

Speaking of [photos], Steve, I was wondering if I could get a look at this year's photos in advance this year, so I could find out what I should wear. Thanks, good buddy! NaomiKarten
Oh, Naomi! You weren't going to forego the deeley-bopper headgear, were you? I've been looking forward to it all along - along with Esther's accordian, of course! -- BobLee October 8, 2002

Naomi, The advance stuff can always be "imagineered" in Photoshop, or another playful application. The real stuff means ... you'll ... have... to ... wait..

- BeckyWinant 2002-10-08

Naomi knows I'm bringing some special headgear we were given at PSL, to wear at AYE. She's just trying to create suspense so people will sign up for AYE to find out what she's wearing. As for me, since it's so close to my birthday, I always wear my birthday suit. I can't predict, though, what I'll wear over it. - JerryWeinberg 2002.10.08 (which is, BTW, Dani's and Jerry's 41st anniversary).

Bob, well, I hadn't though about bringing my deeley-bopper, but I don't want to let you down, so I've added it to my not-yet-started pile of stuff I'd better bring with me. One of the deeleys separated from its bopper, but I think I can coax it back. NaomiKarten

With thanks to the inspiration from the above messages, I was thinking....wouldn't it be fun if everyone brought their wackiest headgear to wear at the closing session? Think it's worth trying to get word out to everyone???? NaomiKarten

Nope. Bad idea. Wacky headgear should be the exception, not the rule. Besides, someone might have something wackier than what I'm bringing, and I want them to leave it at home!

:-)

Sorry, Dave, but my shaved head is about as wacky as headgear gets! But you can compete with Naomi for second prize. - JerryWeinberg 2002.10.10
Naomi, I can't understand why you have such trouble relating to Wiki communication -- It's such a warm, evocative manner of speaking... It's kind of like speaking in sign language. It's made richer, of course, by those little HTML markup characters (Grin) that make it so natural.

Well, I'm sure glad you finally got with the program! ;-))

Naomi,

Read your message to me. Wanted to say "HI", and reading through this 'conversation', I'll vote with you for bringing wacky headgear. I imagine an image of a room full of 'adults', all wearing bizarre hats (with one glowing head shining through...). What an advertisement!!!

Maybe we should MAKE the wierd headgear???

Cheers -- and looking forward to seeing you again -- DianeGibson
